Sherif Rizkalla was appointed CEO of SUPERNAP Italia in 2019 after having served most recently as Marketing Senior Vice President for the Enterprise Business Unit of Du, the leading Emirates mobile & fixed telephone operator. He was responsible for developing the telco and ICT business of Du in the UAE enterprise market, and for growing Du’s share both horizontally in the segment and vertically developing new services.
Previously Sherif was Marketing Director for the B2B market in Wind Tre SpA, following the merger of Wind Telecomunicazioni and H3G Italy. He joined Wind in January 2009 and held several leadership roles as Procurement Director, Marketing Director for the Large Enterprise and Head of Sales and Marketing for the Large Enterprise Business.
Before joining Wind, Sherif spent 12 years in Alcatel-Lucent, where he held various positions in sales, marketing and solution architecture, in Italy and the Middle East. He has extensive knowledge and experience in enterprise business and telecommunication networks with a special emphasis on broadband Internet access technologies.
During his career with Alcatel, Sherif spent several years in France where he managed and led the Broadband Division Client Projects. He began his career with Alcatel in the United States as a network engineer.
Sherif studied Computer Engineering at George Mason University in the United States. He also holds a master’s degree from George Mason in Data and Mobile Communications Networks Analysis and Design.
Enrico Batella joined SUPERNAP Italia in July 2021 as Chief Information Officer where he oversees all network and information technology management.
Enrico began his telecommunications career in 2000 with Alcatel–Lucent as a sales and technical manager. Nine years later he joined Wind where he held several management roles and led the assurance and delivery departments for B2B customers. Enrico participated in the merger of Wind with Tre and in 2017 he was named Head Of Product Development in the B2B marketing division of WindTre where he was responsible for product requirement definition, pre-feasibility analysis, process definition, and project management for new product development.
Enrico graduated from the Università Sapienza in Rome with a degree in electronic engineering.
Danilo joined SUPERNAP Italia in 2020 as Finance Director where he manages the finance team and is responsible for the preparation of financial statements, group and company reporting and budgeting. He oversees the treasury and procurement activities and liaises with operations to monitor the company’s performance.
Between 2017 and 2020 Danilo worked for Otis Elevator Co., serving as FP&A Manager in Norway and Finance Manager in Luxembourg, where he took on increasing responsibilities in budgeting and forecasting, project accounting and internal controls. Previously he worked in Paris for United Technologies as Senior Finance and Operations Auditor for the EMEA region and in Milan as a Senior Auditor for PwC.
Danilo is quadrilingual (Italian, English, French and Spanish) and holds an Executive MBA from École des Ponts Business School in Paris and a MSc in General Management from Bocconi University in Milan.
Lorenzo Rossi joined SUPERNAP Italia in December 2015 as Head of Procurement and Contract Management and in 2018, his role evolved to Commercial Coordinator. He leads the sales team in customer acquisition and retention, ensuring client satisfaction and enabling the sustainable growth of the SUPERNAP ecosystem. He also manages the company’s purchase requirements and oversees supplier and customer agreements, negotiating professionally and effectively to secure fair terms and conditions.
Prior to joining SUPERNAP, Lorenzo served as a contract and tender coordinator at Rizzani de Eccher, an international construction firm. He graduated from the Università degli Studi in Florence with a degree in civil engineering & transportation.
Cristina Lumina joined SUPERNAP Italia as Sales Account Manager in late 2017. With more than 20 years of experience in sales, Cristina boasts a broad knowledge of consultative methodologies. She is creative and customer-focused, with expertise in account management and business development. She has worked previously in sales roles for HP, Verizon, Lexmark and Cable&Wireless and holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from Milan Polytechnic.
Andrea Bertoldo joined SUPERNAP Italia in February 2019 as Sales Account Manager. For more than 20 years Andrea has been working for leading global ICT companies, including Sales and Product roles in international companies Wolters Kluwer, British Telecom and IBM. Andrea has proven experience in managing complex IT transformation projects and a deep knowledge of the ICT market, data centers and hybrid cloud services.
Andrea holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Turin University.
Massimo (Max) Mattioli was appointed Pre-Sales Manager in September 2019 after having served as the Critical Systems Manager of SUPERNAP Italia for four years. He has a degree in telecommunications and brings 37 years of valuable experience, gained in several roles in and around the data center and supporting infrastructure.
Massimo started his telecommunications career in Italcable, an Italian overseas telephone company, as a Switch and Transmission Engineer. After a few years, he had the opportunity to join the international business as part of the Complex Solutions department. Massimo’s responsibilities included implementing the latest new technologies such as video conferencing systems, TDM solutions and routing and bridging equipment for key customers like FIAT, Iveco, Pirelli Tires and Cable, Merloni and Banca di Roma.
In 1998, Massimo moved to Worldcom early in the company’s start-up phase, where he created, developed and grew the Operations team. During this rapid period of growth, he was responsible for three data centers, the voice and switch infrastructure, and FO networks in a 24x7 high-availability environment. In 2007 Massimo joined Verizon, where he spent eight years as the Data Center and Facility Manager for Italy and Greece, managing the second largest Verizon data center in Europe.
Alison Gutman is the Communication Manager for SUPERNAP Italia where she oversees all aspects of the brand, marketing and communications. Her responsibilities include materials production, media relations, event coordination and content development. She interacts frequently with all members of the management team in organizing internal communication and information. Alison joined SUPERNAP Italia in 2016 after serving as Content Developer on the branding team of Switch SUPERNAP in the US.
Alison holds a Bachelor of Art in English and a Master of Science from the University at Albany in NY. She graduated summa cum laude and was honored with the President’s Award for Leadership.
Gian Paolo joined SUPERNAP Italia in April 2015 to manage HR & facilities planning with the aim of recruiting and developing experts who fit the organization and supporting the company in achieving its goals.
He has held various positions in apparel, pharmaceutical, luxury, retail and fast fashion industries within several companies as HR & Organization Manager and then Director over the last 15 years, after working as a Consultant for Accenture early in his career.
Gian Paolo has a proven track record in organizational development, performance management, training, people development and project management, achieved through continuous partnerships with industry leaders. He has also been engaged in international projects, managing industrial relations for restructuring companies
Gian Paolo holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Bocconi University in Milan.
Pete Gosnell joined SUPERNAP Italia in 2016 as the NOC and Infrastructure Manager. He also heads Quality Control for the data center.
Growing up in the UK, Pete began his career in telecommunications as a Network Technician installing and maintaining TDM networks. In 1995 he joined Bloomberg L.P in London Docklands as a Data Center Technician, gaining insight into data center cabling and practices. He played a key role in the technical rollout of Bloomberg TV in the UK and served as part of a global team providing 24x7 support on FRE networks and analytical support for Bloomberg platforms.
In 1998 Pete moved to Milan, Italy to launch and manage the Network Operations team for the then-startup company COLT Telecom. He was responsible for the national SDH, DWDM and PDH networks and was also the company representative for service assurance for all of Southern Europe. In 2000 after major flooding in the region, Pete reduced impact on the national and international backbone and earned a company award for his demonstrated disaster management.
Following his success with COLT, Pete served numerous startup companies and projects between 2002 and 2006, including the operational launch of a FIAT-Trafficmaster joint venture, GPS/GSM solutions for the automotive sector and various media companies in London to remodel customer services and staff management.
Before joining SUPERNAP, Pete was the Unit Manager for SIRTI for Network Operation Services for customers such as Retelit, Fastweb and Vodafone.
Andrea Muggiani joined SUPERNAP Italia in April 2016 as Data Center Services Manager, responsible for the setup process and for defining the delivery plan in accordance with customers’ needs. His main tasks include solution design (space, power, network and access policies), change management requests and acting as the primary point of contact between customers and the SUPERNAP Italia team.
Before joining SUPERNAP Italia, Andrea spent 16 years in multinational and high tech environments in various roles with Colt Technology, delivering colocation and hosting services across Italy and Europe. He also supported the opening of call centers in L’Aquila (Italy) and Leon (Spain) for Transcom Worldwide.
Lorenzo Di Mariano joined SUPERNAP Italia in October 2016 as Security Supervisor and was quickly promoted to Security Manager in May 2017. In this role he manages an elite team of security officers and engages professionally with customers, vendors and staff to protect the entire facility. In 2019 he became a certified Data Protection Officer (DPO) and in 2021 he was named HSE Manager, reporting directly to the CEO, as the company formally dedicated additional resources to protect the health, safety and environment of its staff and customers. Lorenzo’s experience in risk prevention and management as well as his participation in company policy development rendered him the ideal candidate for the coordination and optimization of the company’s security and HSE matters.
Lorenzo’s career in security and risk management spans several years, beginning as a Security Expert at Fiera Milano where he was responsible for corporate security management, emergency coordination and risk planning and assessment. He later moved to the Risk Management, Analysis and Compliance department of Carrefour Italia where he served as Security Specialist for the Lazio region.
Lorenzo holds a Bachelor of Science in Investigations from l’Università degli Studi dell’Aquila, and is DPO- and HSE-certified.
Michele began his career with SUPERNAP Italia in 2016 as a Critical Systems Technician. In 2017 he was promoted to Supervisor and in 2019 to Critical Systems Maintenance Manager. He is responsible for the installation, implementation and quality control of all critical infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment. Previously, Michele served as a control officer for ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi), Milan’s public transportation authority. He has more than a decade’s experience in several technical roles in HVAC, plumbing and electrical maintenance fields.
Biagio has been supporting the Critical Systems operations of the SUPERNAP data center since 2016. He began as a Critical Systems Technician and quickly grew into his current role of Critical Systems Engineering Operations Manager. He serves as the main point of contact for the monitoring and evaluation of critical infrastructure and is responsible for commissioning, quality control and maintenance.
Biagio has more than 15 years’ experience as a field engineer in electrical controls and SCADA systems both in Italy and abroad. He holds a degree in electrical engineering and power electronics and certification for programming high voltage protective equipment.
